I have been accused of being opinionated, or “unduly adhering to my own opinion or to preconceived notions.” (Webster’s Dictionary) Opening the dictionary is a dangerous undertaking for me, I always get caught in seeing more than I started looking for. For example, I find that an opinion is “a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter,” or “belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge.”

So, are the things expressed in these pages positive knowledge, i.e. facts, or are they opinions? Is it opinion or is it fact that we face a critical shortage of nutrients in our food supply? Is it a preconceived notion that our bodies need to receive nutrition from a natural substance called food? And that the greater concentration of easily accessible, naturally occurring nutrients in our food the better? Is it opinion or fact that we need to pay attention to the flora in our intestinal tract? It is fact that my health has improved by acting upon certain “opinions” I have written about in these pages.

One could argue that my outcome is merely the result of the placebo affect. But I have had many opinions which utterly failed to raise my level of health. Where was placebo when I had at least one migraine headache per week? Where were the affects of belief when the least physical effort meant I had to lie down to recuperate? Why is it that my body heals more quickly from trauma or injury at 62 years old than it did when I was 45? Why am I more flexible now, than when I was “young?”

If these are the manifestations of my opinions, I think I’ll keep them and not opt for those facts that tell me what I have done is impossible and extraordinary. It is my “opinion” that the human body is a wonderfully designed organism, capable of repairing and maintaining itself if given the proper balance of naturally occurring nutrients. I have based my actions on these “opinions” and have seen these “opinions” work not only for myself, but for many different people.

Funny thing about these “opinions,” you don’t have to believe it will work for you in order to experience the benefits. Cats, dogs, and horses don’t experience placebo effect that I know of. The only prerequisite is that you consume the various AFA algae products same as I do, and you take the necessary steps to clean up your diet and lifestyle.

If you are an absolute believer that what I have written on these pages is all bosh, you are a prime candidate to give this a try and prove me wrong! No positive interference of opinion to cloud the issue. Here is the gauntlet thrown down and the challenge issued. Are you interested in taking it?

I was able to call in to the algae conference call recently when Dr. John Taylor was the guest. Dr. Taylor is a leading authority on such conditions as ADD/ADHD, Nutrition, Brain Function, and Autism.

I learned that many toxic chemicals are implicated in disorders such as ADD/ADHD and Autism. For ADHD, lead contamination plays a significant role with other metals implicated as well. For Autism, it seems aluminum contamination is a major contributor.

People with Autism should avoid five categories of chemicals:

Metals, particularly aluminum

Petrochemicals

Phenols

Neurotoxins

Chemicals ending in -ite and -ate such as found in processed meats

These chemicals abound in our society from pesticides and insecticides, 6,000 food additives and preservatives, soaps, MSG, and artificial sweeteners (aspartame). To remove these chemicals, you must supply the body with three things: enzyme activity, chlorophyll, and sulfur containing amino acids. Properly harvested AFA algae is rich in all three and has been shown to aid in detoxifying these chemicals.

Metals such as aluminum and lead get into the brain and begin destroying brain cells through free radical damage. Sulfur containing amino acids changes these metals into salts and removes them.

You can find more information on www.feingold.org and www.add-plus.com.

Today there is a flood of contradictory statements about most products for sale. So who do you believe? Who can you believe? Can you trust the salesman, the one person who ought to know the most about his products?

All my life, I have enjoyed the reputation of being honest. I did, that is, until I started selling AFA blue-green algae (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae). Then I became an unconscionable liar, or so many people have assumed. How is it possible for a simple organism to be responsible for such remarkable changes in health as I have reported?

Well, if I may revert to my former honest self, I must confess that AFA algae did not do all that, my body did it. But perhaps you ask how my body, failing as it was, could suddenly reverse itself and regain health and vigor AND maintain it for the next 15 years? In my same honest guise, I have to confess it was all those nutrients supplied by AFA. It is this kind of food, complete nutritional package, easily digested, easily assimilated, full of antioxidant pigments, that allows your body to work as it was intended.

Events such as overcoming chronic fatigue, escaping chronic illness, being delivered from loss of mental clarity, disappearance of painful joints, regaining flexibility, renewed strength, and more we see as being near miraculous. Yes there are drugs that, for a time, can accomplish some of these things. But I have done all this and more without dangerous side effects. By supporting my body’s efforts to maintain health, I build up a reserve of well-being that does so much more than chase symptoms.

I have accomplished all this, not because I had a great body, but because I ate and continue to eat great food. One can accomplish nothing more than can be sustained by the food one eats.

For me at least, the idea of water as a business model began with Barbara Swanson. And, as is the case when one encounters an intriguing idea, it quickly becomes impossible to delineate who should get credit for what. So thank you, Barbara, for starting this.

The Model:

Of the substances on Earth, water can appear as one of the wimpiest of them all. It is very inconsistent and “wish washy”, changing quickly from solid to liquid to gas and back again. Even as a solid, water is much softer than steel. However, water can be said to be the more powerful of the two. A small amount of water vapor in the air can reduce steel to a crumbling pile of rust.

The considerable power of our greatest storms lies in the properties of water. Every gram of water vapor that changes to raindrops releases 540 calories of energy; energy expressed by the fury of the storm. When liquid water freezes into ice, it again releases energy, approximately 80 calories per gram.

Water is one of the basic components of all living things on Earth. It carries nutrients, it carries waste, it is a heat reservoir, and it keeps us cool. Living things pump water up, gravity pulls it down.

When gravity prevails, you see the formation of streams, lakes, and oceans. If there are obstacles, water flows around what it can’t move. Flowing water demonstrates the power of consistently applied small things. The sediment carried by streams abrade and wear away rocks, carving majestic canyons. You can’t stop it.

Build a dam across the canyon and the water will fill the impoundment with sediment. It would then run over the dam and cut its channel through. Turn the water into near weightless flakes of snow and it builds up glaciers that cut through mountains, grinding rocks to powder.

Even impounding water into our vast oceans doesn’t stop it. Buoyant, hot water flows north and south from the equator to replace the sinking cold water near the poles. But that is not the end of it either. The sun evaporates large amounts of water to keep the cycle going.

It is this persistent fluidity of water in all its phases that makes it a perfect analogy for succeeding in a business like selling Simplexity Health products. We must be persistent yet fluid in our approach. Obstacles do not need to stop us. They can be the occasion to turn us into new territory. Bringing the nutrients of AFA algae into the lives of others can be as much a blessing to them (and to you) as a gentle rain on thirsty plants.

Unlike water, we have the added power to decide to persist or not.

If you don’t believe me when I tell you of earthly things, how shall you believe when I tell you of heavenly. —Jesus—

In the past 62 years, I have gained some experience of earthly things. Of all these, I would rate eating premium AFA algae (Aphanizomenon flos-aqua) as the most representative of Heavenly.

Jesus often used common things, like bread, as allegories to convey what he was talking about. I have eaten bread all my life, but it wasn’t until I experienced premium AFA that I began to grasp what he meant when he said, “the bread of life is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” I can say that the food I had eaten kept body and soul together. But I didn’t know what life was until I began to eat AFA algae.

A body that is really alive has the ability to

Renew and rebuild itself without mistakes

Cleanse itself of accumulated toxins

Defend itself from disease organisms

Have abundant energy to give you a steady supply all day

Maintain health and vigor into old age

Maintain mental focus and sharpness

I received all this and more because I began to eat the food that gives life to the body.

Some people have kindly assured me that all these improvements have come about because I expected them; that my gains in health have all been in my head. I assure you that I am a miserable failure at improving my health (or anything else) by merely thinking it into being. This is what they call faith, but I’ll have none of it. However that is a different sermon.

I am talking about experience, not something erroneously called faith. This experience sits upon the foundation of the vast array of nutrients in AFA. I could write several pages about experiencing my brain coming to life, about finding that my body was growing younger as I accumulated years, and that instead of getting more susceptible to disease and debility I was enabled to fight off sicknesses. There is enough material in the experience of eating AFA for several sermons. But the point for this one is: If you want the life you must eat the food that leads to life. There is no other way. And, as with real faith, you will find that you can begin to trust the experience.

“Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it,” said Edmund Burke, an 18th century, Irish statesman. It would seem we are bent upon proving that true by the “food” we choose to eat.

Richard White’s Its Your Misfortune and None of My Own: A New History of the American West gives a perspective on the “settlement” of the American West different from either Hollywood or textbooks. White details much of the mad rush to grasp the valuable components of this newly acquired territory; details that do not survive in the popular grasp of history.

It is not surprising that we do not have a sense of history; not surprising for two reasons. One, much of our history is too embarrassing to comfortably remember. And two, our society has been too transient, too ephemeral for such a sense to develop. Because of this we are repeating the mistakes.

In the 1800s people rushed in to grab the new lands opened by the conquest of native peoples and by our subsequent cheating on our agreements with these peoples. It was a quick deal and the first in line grabbed the best. Today our focus is still on fast: fast food, fast information, fast entertainment, fast transportation, and fast relationships. In the 1800s, the man with the fast draw had the best chance to come out alive. But our fast lifestyles are producing degradation of the social fabric and a slow, painful death. Today the United States ranks #1 in health costs and #25 in individual health when comparing the top 25 industrialized nations.

The remedy for our malady owes its existence to the nature of any mad rush. Somehow, in our desecration of the American West, we overlooked or failed to recognize a vein of untold wealth. We largely bypassed the entire watershed that feeds Upper Klamath Lake in southern Oregon. It is this watershed with its deep volcanic soils and pure streams that makes possible the lake in which grows Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (AFA): the true child of silence and slow time. It is precisely this organisms “sense of history” encoded in its DNA and expressed in its proteins, pigments, and vast array of nutrients that makes it the perfect antidote to our fast ailments.

In the 1800s we threw away botanical, environmental, cultural, and ethnic treasures in our headlong scramble for gain. One government official, commenting on one of the five civilized tribes in Oklahoma, stated that their progress would go no further until the people learned to be selfish. This he said regarding a nation having its own government and school system; a nation in which there was no poverty, no homelessness, and no national debt. Selfishly discarding the various treasures of the 1800s has left us impoverished in countless ways.

Frank L. Baum postulated the fantastical creature H. M. Wogglebug, T.E. who operated a school on the principal of specially formulated pills to instill knowledge of any given subject area. But there is no fantasizing involved when you put AFA to work for you. The knowledge and wisdom AFA instills is that special metabolic wisdom that only happens when your body is presented a complete nutritional package, a real treasure in any age. Throwing away or failing to eat AFA will leave us without the nourishment that is the foundation of health through all the years of our lifetime.

Karl Abrams, in Algae to the Rescue, has a lot to say about the impact on your body’s ability to function when all these nutrients are together in one easy to assimilate food. When you eat AFA, you can expect, among other things, better immune function, an evenly regulated energy, increased mental clarity, increased physical stamina, improved moods, support for many of your organs such as pancreas and thymus, and much more.

It may come as a surprise to you that all brands selling AFA algae are not alike. Some of the nutrients on this list are present in all brands of AFA algae. Unfortunately, other listed items are lost if the algae is not handled correctly. Those nutrients that get destroyed through improper procedures are crucial to obtaining the full benefits of what this organism can do for you. Only one company harvests, preserves, and delivers the full package of nutrients to you, the consumer.

Isn’t it time you discovered what this single celled organism can do for you? You can read what I and others have written on the subject, but until you eat this food you won’t know. The proof is in putting it to work in your body.

Time was that the occasional pot of beans had excess liquid on them. Our options were to have runny beans, serve the broth soaked into dried bread, or just drink it. All the above solutions have their own appeal, but now we lacto ferment that broth. This has turned our bean broth into a gourmet delight and made our bean pot always lacking in enough broth.

Recipe

Pre-soak and cook a pot of dry beans, pinto or other variety. Make sure your beans have excess liquid when they are through cooking.

Cool the beans, salt to taste, and dip off the excess broth. Put the broth into good, pint canning jars.

To each pint, add 1/4 capsule of Simplexity Health’s acidophilus (a blend of DDS-1 strain acidophilus and AFA algae). Stir well. Cap each jar with a good lid.

Allow the jar to stand at room temperature for three to four days. During this time, you may notice some separation of the liquid and the formation of what appears to be a curd.

After the incubation period, you can drink the fermented broth or refrigerate it to enjoy later.

Subsequent ferments can be inoculated from the previous batch.

A Note About Flavor: If I had first tasted the lacto fermented bean broth with my eyes closed, I would have “known” I was drinking tomato juice. As it was, my eyes were open, but I had a hard time believing the liquid in my glass was brown instead of red.

Alternative: To your pot of cooking beans, add mangels, beets, parsnips, peas, carrots, kale, burdock root, and summer squash. Lacto ferment this soup broth in the same manner as above. All that can be said about the results is, “Now This Is Good!”

Tough times have always been a feature of human history. Whether we are dealing with an ice age or the current economic situation, persistence and wisdom are crucial components of survival. A Simplexity Health business could be the help you need.

Tough times require one to work smarter is the cliché that is bandied about. But the definition of what is “smarter” is not often spelled out. For the corporate model, working smarter amounts to climbing the ladder so that your economic basis is spread upon the backs of many individuals who aren’t yet “smarter.”

From its beginning Simplexity Health chose a different business model, one that defines success in terms of how well you help those in your network to succeed. It is this model I wish to offer as the definition of smarter. It is this ideal I strive to achieve in my business efforts.

There are many network marketing companies to choose from, if all you care about is “networking.” But there is one thing that sets Simplexity Health‘s business apart from all others. Simplexity Health‘s product line, based upon the Earth’s best superfood, enhances the well-being of your clients in ways no other food, supplement, or product can.

So, if you need a new line of work or just need something to help make ends meet, I encourage you to look at a Simplexity Health business. If you would like to join my wife and me, we will do our best to help you achieve your goals. You can reap the joys of making a substantial difference in the lives of people and enjoy being paid to do it.

If you have questions, please see my contact me page.

This post nearly got away from me. I promised sometime back to post about lacto fermented watermelon rind and never got it done. Thank you to the person who searched for the recipe. I apologize that you could not find it.

Recipe:

Peel a quantity of watermelon rind and cut into chunks of about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch each way.

Boil the rinds until you can poke them easily with a fork. (Add any spices you may wish before you boil the rinds.) Remove from the burner and allow to cool.

Add 1 tablespoon Celtic Sea Salt and 1 capsule of Spectrabiotic for each quart of rind chunks. (Spectrabiotic is a blend of eight beneficial bacteria and premium AFA algae. It makes a good inoculant for lacto ferments.)

Mix all ingredients well and pack into jars. Cap the jars with good lids.

Allow the jars to stand at room temperature for three days. You can eat immediately or store in the refrigerator.

Note about inoculation: some ferments, especially those where the vegetable is cooked, need to be inoculated with the good bacteria that does the lacto fermentation. I like using Spectrabiotic because I consistently get good results.

Note about storage and use: most lacto fermented vegetables mature their flavor in storage. But some need to be used up more quickly while others keep better. Lacto fermented watermelon rind keeps better than lacto fermented watermelon (the part you normally eat). Lacto fermented watermelon rind makes a good condiment with bean dishes where it adds just the right touch.
